FEA PROJECTS (Partial list)
Fuel Cell
Model and analysis of a fuel cell to measure transitory electromagnetic thermal interactions et determine the performance of the concept according to specifications. Project was done for AvantCell.
Connector
Linear and non linear analysis of material and geometry of a radial spring. Contact elements with friction where used to model the sliding of the spring on a sliding rod using a specified displacement. Project was done for Nordx CDT.
Dam stability analysis of dams
Dertermined needs, wrote specifications, wrote program and conducted extensive validation of stability analysis software for gravity dams. Software offers specialized 3D dam modeling tools, hydrodynamic analysis, sismic analysis according to all North American codes, takes into account cracking when calculating pressure envelope. STAB is used by Hydro Quebec and engineering consultants to validate the security of dams. PBI was given the CCIA prize for excellence in R&D for this poroject.
Thermal and Structural analysis of nozzle
A 4th stage nozzle for a gas turbine was analyzed to calculate temperature distribution under a flight schedule. It involved, take-off, rapid climb, cruising, and landing. These temperatures were than used along with mechanical loads to calculate stresses in the various components of the nozzle. Crack initiation analysis was performed to calculate formation of ¼" crack. The analysis involved transient heat transfer with convection and radiation. The radiation and convection links were used between parts for proper heat transfer analysis. Non-linear static analysis was carried out to predict both mechanical and thermal stresses. The project was done for Textron.
Dynamic Analysis of Gun Turret
A gun mounted on the turret in a transport vehicle was analysis under firing condition. The analysis involved gap elements and non-linear transient dynamics. The objective of the analysis was to predict the displacement and stresses in the turret under dynamic loads created by firing sequence. The project was done for General Dynamics, Land System Division.
Frame Analysis for a personnel carrier
A linear static and eigen value analysis was carried out on a stamped steel frame for a personnel carrier for Army. The frame consisted of several cross-members and side rails. The suspension was simulated using beam and spring elements. The engine, transmission and rear differential were modeled using mass elements. The frame was analyzed under various load cases including 20G vertical, hard braking, hard cornering plus vertical, etc. The eigen values were calculated to assure the bending and torsional frequencies above specified range. In addition, the results were then subsequently included in the system model of the vehicle. The project was done for AMC
In addition, there are several projects done for suppliers to military establishment that we can not write about due to existing non-disclosure agreements.
